Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt has confirmed plans for the next-gen version of the game, as well as its next major update, in the company's most recent earnings release.
According to CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski, the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions of both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 are still on track for their respective Q1 2022 and Q2 2022 release dates. And, specifically for Cyberpunk 2077, the next major update coming to all platforms will also be released in Q1 2022.
“We are hard at work on the next-gen version of Cyberpunk, scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2022, alongside another major update for all platforms,” said Kicinski. “There is also ongoing work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 and the Cyberpunk expansion. In parallel, we carry on with the transformation of our studio, which is affecting more and more production teams.”
Cyberpunk 2077's last major update was Patch 1.3, which improved the game's mini-map, added plenty of new features, and even some free DLC. The next-gen version of the game were originally due to release this year, before being delayed to 2022, along with the remaining free DLC and updates. Despite the game's disastrous launch, Kicinski recently stated that he believes that Cyberpunk 2077 will be “perceived as a very good game” in the long run.
