Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt has confirmed plans for the next-gen version of the game, as well as its next major update, in the company's most recent earnings release.

According to CD Projekt CEO Adam Kicinski, the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions of both Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 are still on track for their respective Q1 2022 and Q2 2022 release dates. And, specifically for Cyberpunk 2077, the next major update coming to all platforms will also be released in Q1 2022.

“We are hard at work on the next-gen version of Cyberpunk, scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2022, alongside another major update for all platforms,” said Kicinski. “There is also ongoing work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3 and the Cyberpunk expansion. In parallel, we carry on with the transformation of our studio, which is affecting more and more production teams.”

Cyberpunk 2077's last major update was Patch 1.3, which improved the game's mini-map, added plenty of new features, and even some free DLC. The next-gen version of the game were originally due to release this year, before being delayed to 2022, along with the remaining free DLC and updates. Despite the game's disastrous launch, Kicinski recently stated that he believes that Cyberpunk 2077 will be “perceived as a very good game” in the long run.

  • After getting my refund for the digital version, I picked up a physical copy when a store was clearing them out for $10. I hope they can salvage this game, as I had an okay time with what I played, but the glitches were just too much for me, screwing me over on three separate quests/gigs that I couldn't complete.
  • they fixed the game-breaking bugs. I managed to 1k this without encountering any game-breakers. I actually hope the XSX version has it's own stack, because I would like to have a reason to get back into this game again.
  • Too bad we're in an era where studios and people involved in gaming are "happy" to say that a game will be seen as great in the long run. Just do your job before releasing it.
I was very hyped with this game, as the rest of the planet, and this and AC Valhalla are the reason why I'm never again purchasing day one.
I'll be glad to play 2077 in... 2023 on my SX when it's free in GP.
  • Finished the game on Series X almost a year ago and only encountered a couple of glitches in the long run. I loved the game, though haven’t touched it since completing it.
