Fortnite Chapter 3 Launches With a Whole New Map Sliding Swinging and Spider-Man

Fortnite Chapter 3 Launches With a Whole New Map, Sliding, Swinging, and Spider-Man

Well, it happened. This weekend, Fortnite's island was once again under attack. This time round, however, the island wasn't destroyed - instead, it was flipped, with the secret undiscovered world underneath now serving as the battle royale's new map.

The new map is filled with new sights to see and areas to explore - a western snowfield, eastern tropics, an epic canyon, and wide grasslands give players a variety of regions to do battle in.

It's not just about a new map, though. Fortnite Chapter 2 introduced new mechanics like swimming, and now Chapter 3 has added in a bunch more. Players can now slide when running downhill, for more speed and evasion, while players can also equip Spider-Man's web shooters to swing through the air. Oh, and Spider-Man is a big part of Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1: Flipped, with The Daily Bugle appearing as a major landmark on the map, and the web-slinger himself available as a playable character in the game's battle pass.

Other new features coming in this new chapter of Fortnite include the ability to earn XP in Creative mode, and new camps which can be placed on the map and used to stash items, which can then found in future matches. Players who place highly enough in Battle Royale will also earn a Victory Crown, which will adorn your head for the next match, making you a bit of a target for other players.

Finally, for anyone who is interested in the tech side of things, Fortnite Chapter 3 sees the game now officially running in Unreal Engine 5, making it the first Unreal Engine 5 game to launch.
