Developer GSC Game World has announced that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl will now be releasing in December 2022. The sequel to the intense post-apocalyptic first-person survival game had been on for an April 2022 launch, but the studio is keen to spend the extra development time polishing the experience.
“These additional seven months of development are needed to fulfill our vision and achieve the desired state of the game. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is the biggest project in the history of GSC, and it requires thorough testing and polishing," the developer said on Twitter. "We are convinced that development should take as long as necessary, especially in the case of such a project."
The statement continues: “This decision is not an easy one, but we are doing the best possible to deliver you a game that can live up to the expectations.”
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl will now be coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC on 8th December 2022, also available day one via Xbox Game Pass. You can read GSC Game World's statement in full below and check out the latest trailer here.
