Last week's Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 event raised a record $3.4 million for Prevent Cancer Foundation, organiser Games Done Quick has announced.
Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) is a regular feature in the gaming calendar, featuring a variety of video game speedrunners attempting to finish popular games as quickly as possible on stream, often with some unusual modifiers as well. This year's event, which took place between 9th January and 16th January, saw one player beat Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in just over two hours while blindfolded, as if it wasn't difficult enough. Additionally, world records were beaten live on stream for titles like Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Pumpkin Jack, and Webbed.
As well as setting a new high bar of nearly 3-and-a-half million dollars raised for charity, Awesome Games Done Quick 2022 also hit its first $1 million dollars of donations from viewers in record time - how's that for speedrunning?
