Hogwarts Legacy is on track to release in 2022, according to an official update on the Wizarding World website.
A report from earlier this week had suggested that the Harry Potter RPG was in “some sort of trouble” and that rumblings behind the scene suggested that the game could fall out of 2022, instead releasing in 2023.
However, the latest official announcement on Hogwarts Legacy once again commits to a 2022 release date, with the pretty definitive title of “The Hogwarts Legacy video game will be arriving this year”.
“2022 is also the year when the highly anticipated console game from Warner Bros. Games’ Portkey Games label, Hogwarts Legacy, is set to be released,” reads the official statement. “Developed by Avalanche Software, this action RPG allows players to be at the centre of their own adventure set during the late 1800s wizarding world. From learning powerful spells and brewing potions, to honing combat skills and taming magical beasts, this game will allow players to experience the magical world as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry like never before as they determine the fate of the entire wizarding world.”
Considering that we're still only in January, it could be that Warner Brothers is still hopeful that Hogwarts Legacy will launch in 2022, even if development is struggling. Rumour has it that we'll be getting a new look at the Wizarding World game at a PlayStation State of Play next month, so perhaps we'll find out more information, or even a release date, then.
