Toshihiro Nagoshi, the creator of the Yakuza and Monkey Ball games, has announced the formation of his new studio, officially named Nagoshi Studio.

Nagoshi departed SEGA and RGG Studio last year, in order to set up a new studio under Chinese company NetEase. Nagoshi will serve as Representative Director and CEO of the studio, and has brought many veteran developers with him. The new Nagoshi Studio website lists eight members of staff under Nagoshi, all of whom have served at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio or SEGA.

“My goal is to make this studio an airy place,” says Nagoshi as part of the studio's message. “It may sound too simple as a goal, doesn't it? But no matter how good a creator, loneliness cannot show full power. We believe that the first step in creating quality work and fulfilling the essence of entertainment with high motivation begins with an open environment.”

What new games could we see from Nagoshi Studio in the future? Will we get a new series similar to Yakuza, or will we end up seeing more experimental titles like Super Monkey Ball? Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to find out.
