Crytek has officially announced Crysis 4 with a brief and slightly ominous teaser trailer, confirming a return to nanosuited first-person shooter action is in the offing, although, presently, the game is in the “early stages of development”, according to studio CEO Avni Yerli.

“Right now the game is in the early stages of development so it will be a while yet, but we wanted to bring you the news at this time as we are so hyped for the future, and to let you know that we will be listening to our community,” Yerli writes in a blog post confirming the fourth Crysis game.

“Crytek has a proud history of working with our community to develop the games you want to play,” Yerli's post continues. “Crysis is incredibly important to so many people – it’s beloved by gamers everywhere, and some of those working in the industry today are doing so because of the original game – so we want to make sure the next instalment in the franchise lives up to all of your expectations.”

Aiming to deliver a “truly next-gen shooter”, Crytek is currently in the process of staffing up for Crysis 4, stating that there are openings available at the studio for anyone keen to “truly shape the future of the franchise”.

This being early days, there's obviously no release window for Crysis 4 as yet, or indeed platforms, but you can enjoy the brief teaser trailer below. With the Crysis Remastered Trilogy coming to consoles last October, no doubt Crysis 4 will follow (nano)suit.
