San Diego Studio has announced that MLB The Show 22 will be releasing on Xbox consoles this April, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

Alongside the release date announcement, we've also got a first look at this year's MLB The Show cover star - Shohei Ohtani. The Japanese player had an excellent 2021 season, hitting 46 home runs, 100 RBIs, and stealing 26 bases, and was “really the only obvious choice” for this year's cover, according to developer Ramone Russell.

The game will utilise cross-platform play and cross-progression as well, across Xbox, PlayStation, and a brand new console for the series - the Nintendo Switch. You can check out the cover star trailer for the game down below.

MLB The Show 22 is launching on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on 5th April 2022.
