Yacht Club Games, the developer of the excellent Shovel Knight series, has announced Mina the Hollower, a brand new action adventure title that has us a bit excited.
Like Shovel Knight before it, Mina the Hollower uses a graphical style that makes it look like its running on old-school hardware. However, while Shovel Knight's 8-bit look was inspired by the NES, Mina the Hollower calls back to the chunky visual style of the Game Boy Color.
Inspired by titles like The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, Castlevania, and even Bloodborne, Mina the Hollower sees players exploring a gothic, top-down world, with Mina utilising a whip as her weapon, alongside a selection collectible side-arms and trinkets.
While Yacht Club is funding the majority of development, it has also launched a Kickstarter for Mina the Hollower, in order to get the community involved in creation, in the same way that the developer did for Shovel Knight.
Make sure to check out the announcement trailer down below - it looks great. Mina the Hollower is due to launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC, although platforms haven't been finalised yet and could be subject to change.
Looks pretty intense, and those boss fights look crazy. If Yacht Club is making it I'm sure it'll be a ton of fun (and probably involve a speedrun achievement!). Definitely a day one purchase for me.
