Rockstar has announced that GTA V will finally be making its way natively to Xbox Series X|S on 15th March 2022.

The long-running GTA game, which first launched back in 2013 on the Xbox 360, was originally due to come to Microsoft and Sony's next-gen consoles during their first year on the market. However, the game was delayed out of its November 2021 release date, to a nebulous ‘March 2022’ window. Now we know exactly when we can play GTA V on yet another (another) console generation.

The new-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto V will offer up resolutions up to 4K, frame rates up to 60FPS, as well as improved textures, improved draw distances, HDR options, and ray tracing options. Players will be able to transfer over their Story Mode and GTA Online progress from Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S, and players new to the title will be able to download a standalone version of GTA Online, which arrives along the Xbox Series X|S version launch.

GTA Online is also getting a few improvements alongside its arrival on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, including the ability to skip the GTA Story Mode prologue before starting GTA Online. There will also be a brand new GTA Online tutorial, and a Career Builder for new players, offering instant access to the Biker, Executive, Nightclub Owner, or Gunrunner businesses.

In the same update, Rockstar also announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 development is “well underway” with more news coming as and when the developer is ready to share it.

Grand Theft Auto V is launching on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on 15th March 2022.

  • Fuck. Off.
  • Mooooooo
  • GtaV was and still is a great game.
  • In 5 years when the new Xbox comes out, GTA V will be re-re-re-released with even better graphics!
  • Absolutely no upgrade path (either free or for a small fee) is mentioned, so I assume that means they are going to charge £59.99 and you’d better like it because it’s Rockstar, who can re-release the same game for 3 whole console generations, and massively overcharge for broken, horrid ”remasters” of their classic games.
  • Feel like I’ve been saying this for about a decade now, but sadly shit like this won’t stop happening unless people actually stop buying into the garbage.

Not saying anyone on here is doing that, but their is a ginormous amount of morons out there who will purchase said bullshit.

The gaming industry is such a joke, the golden age was definitely the 360. Except at the very end when they started DLC, that’s when the flood gates opened for where we are today.
  • Where’s the love for GTA IV? That game could do with an upgrade, newer visuals, vehicle mechanics etc.
  • People, Please. Do not buy it.
After the slap in the face the "remastered" trilogy was, they need to lose even more money on this re-re-re-re-re-release to understand we want GTA6 now and nothing else.
  • Honestly this is probably just a update
  • If it's an update, I'll sample the 60FPS but I'm not buying the game again.
  • this means we'll be playing 6 for the next twenty years.
  • If there's a new set of cheeves to get then yes, I'll eventually get it when it's on a decent deal of the week..
    Not paying full price though..
  • I'll wait until it's on offer, like how the X1 version is constantly, basically the DFS of video games.
  • Think The Rural Juror is onto something.
  • @ch33zy: what if they sweeten the deal with a Great White Shark card?
  • I’ll probably buy it used, I have not played the game yet.
