Funcom has announced that Conan Chop Chop, the cartoon-ish take on Conan the Barbarian, is finally launching next month, after multiple delays.
Originally announced as an April Fool's Day joke, Conan Chop Chop was later revealed as a real game, and was set to launch in September 2019. The game was then delayed to February 2020, and then delayed a second time. A third delay came at the end of 2020, before Conan Chop Chop was “delayed indefinitely” in July last year.
All of the delays cast a little doubt over whether this ex-April Fool's joke would ever actually turn into a real release, but now, we've only got weeks to wait, with Conan Chop Chop launching on 1st March.
“Back then we talked about how the game we’d announced as a fake April fools’ joke in April 2019 was months from release. Well, the joke was actually on us and it’s been almost three years since,” says Funcom's Oscar Guardiola Serra. “It started with an idea that would be a fun and ridiculous take on the Conan universe but then we couldn’t stop thinking of all the additions that could make the game even better. So the scope grew until we were happy enough but that time has now come and we are releasing Conan Chop Chop into the world on March 1. If you don’t believe us, I can’t blame you. But you can ask the journalists who received review copies for it!”
Conan Chop Chop is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 1st March 2022. You can check out the new trailer for the game down below.
