Square Enix has announced Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, a remaster of the iconic PlayStation 1 JRPG, coming to Xbox One in April.
Chrono Cross follows the story of Serge, a hero who falls into another world, and must discover the connection between himself and the future of his planet. The remaster sees the game's 3D models converted to HD, with brand new artwork and character designs by Nobuteru Yuuki, the game's original designer, new HD fonts, and a new background filter. All of these can be toggled off, however, if players want to experience the original visuals, including the original pixel fonts.
There's also refined background music, a new auto-battle function, and the ability to switch enemy encounters off. The biggest new addition, however, is the addition of Radical Dreamers, a previously Japanese-exclusive text-adventure released for the Super Famicom's Satellaview, which was released as a side-story to Chrono Trigger and sets up the story of Chrono Cross years before the release of the original game.
For players in Europe, this will be the first time that Chrono Cross has been officially released outside of Japan and North America. You can check out the trailer for the game down below.
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 7th April 2022.
