Obsidian Entertainment has announced that Grounded has pulled in over 10 million players since its Xbox Game Preview release in late-July 2020. The garden-based survival game, in which you've been shrunken down to the size of an ant, has gradually evolved over the past year and a half, taking on board feedback from players.

An ‘Arachnophobia Mode’ for players afraid of eight-legged scuttlers was added for Grounded's Game Preview launch, while a month later, a scary bird was chucked in to patrol your garden environment. Subsequent updates include the Koi Pond, flying insects, and last year's Shroom and Doom, and the most recent 0.12 update added the upper yard, a knocked over BBQ, and termites.

Black ox beetles, dust mites, scarabs, green shield bugs, ladybug larvae, ladybirds, and wolf spiders have also been added recently, ensuring Grounded's garden is teeming with life. Feedback has also led to the ability to craft multiple items at once, the new ‘Peep.R’ mode for focusing on areas across the map and marking points of interest, and more.

Eight new ‘Into the Wood’ achievements were also added, alongside new weapons and items. To celebrate the 10 million player milestone, players can also grab themselves a Grounded dynamic theme for their console dashboard. Grounded is due to release in full for Xbox and Windows PC this year.

  • I played when it first came out. I really liked it and was excited for it's potential, but I decided then to wait for full launch. I didn't want to ruin it by playing sporadically between updates.
