Today saw CD Projekt RED rolling out its long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen update, landing slap-bang in Q1 2022 as promised back in November. Yes, it's been a long time coming, and it's finally here. But is the next-gen update worth the wait? We thought we'd investigate.
In case you're wondering what the new update does (which arrives alongside the massive 1.5 patch), on Xbox Series X, it serves up dynamic 4K resolution, faster loading times, various technical and visual improvements, and support for ray tracing. Performance Mode enables you to play at 60fps, while Ray Tracing Mode has ray tracing (obvs) at 30fps. On Xbox Series S, you get 1440p resolution at 30fps.
If you're curious about how the Xbox Series X|S version measures up against the original Xbox One version, and how Performance Mode and Ray Tracing Mode compare, then we've got you covered. Take a look at our Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen update comparison video below, and then remind yourself of our review here. If you like.
