Hello Games has rolled out its first No Man's Sky update of 2022, this latest one titled ‘Sentinel’, with a new Sentinel Exomech for more “intense” combat, and  new arsenal based upon Sentinel tech.

For the uninitiated, the Sentinels are a “fearsome, omnipresent authority in the universe,” patrolling their territory to defend against invading looters and pillagers. The Sentinels take the form of deadly drones, towering walkers, or canine-like machines. You'll also find more lore on the Sentinels in the new update, with a new chain of story-driven missions to complete.

Among the new ‘war-chest’ of Sentinel weaponry are shields, new drone types, and the aforementioned Sentinel Exomech, as well as  stun grenades, neutron cannons, a personal automated AI attack mech, and more. Meanwhile, locating mysterious Sentinel Pillars that have been cropping up across the galaxy will lead you to exclusive rewards when you forage through their robotic archives.

The Sentinel update is available now for No Man's Sky on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC. Take a look at what's in store in the trailer below.
