NieR: Automata, the superlative 2017 action RPG from Square Enix and PlatinumGames, is due to get the anime treatment, the announcement arriving as part of the game's fifth anniversary celebrations.
Unveiled during a celebratory Japanese live stream, the NieR: Automata anime will seemingly hew close to the events of the game, with android protagonist 2B the focus, with her buddy 9S and the rest of the YoRHa faction to feature.
So far, only artwork of 2B and her loyal Pod have been revealed, as well as the teaser trailer below. The anime is currently in production at Sword Art Online and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba studio Aniplex, and has yet to be confirmed for western audiences. Should demand be there, however (the game has shipped over 4 million copies), we see no reason why it won't make the jump across the pond.
NieR: Automata is available for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.
