FAR: Changing Tides, the sequel to 2019 indie darling FAR: Lone Sails, is out now, taking the series to choppy waters, as you navigate a flooded landscape. Developer by Okomotive, Changing Tides features a painterly art style, dynamic soundtrack, and plenty of exploration above and below the surface of the water.
Aboard your rusted vessel, you'll control shabby lone protagonist Toe, as he keeps the ship's furnaces burning, the sails billowing, and the paddles whirring. At certain junctures, you'll find your vessel's progress impeded, meaning you'll need to solve puzzles and clear the obstruction to keep moving towards your destination.
“What started as a university project with FAR: Lone Sails has grown into a studio of 10 people, two games and over six years of wonderful memories made at Okomotive,” said Lead Designer Don Schmocker. “Our development journey for FAR: Changing Tides has ended but we can’t wait to see how our players experience their journey in this wonderful world.”
FAR: Changing Tides is available for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One (also via Xbox Game Pass), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, priced $19.99/£14.99. Check out the launch trailer below and our review here.
