Yakuza developer Ryu Ga Gotoku has declared that it has a number of unannounced games in the works, alongside a sequel to Yakuza: Like A Dragon, aka Yakuza 8. Like Yakuza 7, the sequel will be another turn-based RPG title.

“The only one I can talk about right now is Yakuza 8, but we have a lot of unannounced titles that are currently in development,” said Masayoshi Yokoyama in an interview with Denfaminico Gamers (via PSU).

“At some point I’ll be able to discuss some things that I think will surprise you all, so look forward to that,” he added.

In November 2021, RGG Studio announced that it's working on a new IP, but it appears that this is one of many projects it has in the pipeline. Former studio head and Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi also departed SEGA in October, forming his own Nagoshi Studio earlier this year. We can potentially expect more Yakuza-style fare from his new team, too, although nothing has been revealed as yet.

  • Surely they should focus on 1 project, rather than making 'a lot' of games at the same time. :\
  • They have multiple teams to work on multiple projects. Pretty standard industry stuff there. I love their games. So the more the merrier I say. As long as they maintain the level of quality they've always managed to achieve, (and put them on Xbox lol) I'm happy. :)
