MLB The Show 22 will have a brand new commentary team, developer San Diego Studio has announced.
Jon Sciambi and Chris Singleton are joining the baseball game as the new play-by-play commentary team, replacing Matt Vasgersian, Mark DeRosa and Dan Plesac from MLB The Show 21.
This new commentary team also arrives alongside a redesign of the commentary systems in several areas, including game intros, home run calls, post-play analysis, and more. There's also a new conversation system, allowing for more natural banter, and enhancements to the audio stitching between each line. The new commentary was recorded across 128 separate recording sessions, with approximately 45,000 lines of audio, and even some audio content captured from real MLB broadcasts.
“I can’t really express how excited I am to be part of the broadcast team for Sony Interactive Entertainment’s MLB The Show!” said Singleton. “Sony is a legendary brand and baseball is still America’s favourite pastime in my opinion. To have an imprint on one of the top video games in the world is something me and my family will always reflect on with great joy.”
Someone should probably tell Chris that the game is coming to Xbox too, aye? MLB The Show launches on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One via Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on 5th April 2022.
