Road 96, the narrative-driven procedural road trip game, is hurtling onto consoles in just over a month, publisher Ravenscourt has announced.

First released on PC last year, the game follows a group of atypical protagonists taking a road trip across the country of Patria, following the call of adventure, and also, you know, attempting to flee the fascist regime of President Tyrak. Each mile of the game opens up a new choice to make which will change the course of your adventure, resulting in new interactions, new locations, and more.

The release date announcement also arrives alongside the news that Road 96 won in an impressive five categories at the French Syndicat National du Jeu Vidéo Pégases Awards.

  • Best Indie Game
  • Beyond The Video Game
  • Best Accessibility
  • Best Sound Design
  • Best Narrative Design

“We are so proud to have won these, we were hoping for one; five is unbelievable,” said creative director Yoan Fanise. “There is a large audience waiting for innovative experiences nowadays the gaming world has changed drastically over the last years. Road 96 is a collaborative creation, a reflection of the team's diversity and shows that success is not a matter of a project’s size.”

Road 96 is launching on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 on 14th April 2022. You can check out the game's latest trailer down below.

  • I played the demo on Switch and definitely has me intrigued. I only held off buying because, like many third party titles on Switch, the performance was a bit iffy. I'll very likely pick this up sometime this year on Xbox or PS.
