Elden Ring Has Passed 12 Million Sales in Less Than Three Weeks

Matt Lorrigan

Elden Ring has hit a staggering sales milestone of 12 million copies sold since its launch last month, Bandai Namco has announced.

12 million sales in just over two weeks is impressive for any title, let alone one from Japanese developer FromSoftware, whose games are often spoken about as being niche, due to the high level of challenge and lack of traditional story. For context, Bandai Namco announced in 2020 that the entire Dark Souls series had sold 27 million copies since the first game's launch in 2011. Dark Souls III, the most successful of the trilogy, had sold 10 million copies, meaning Elden Ring has already surpassed it in just a few weeks.

“It's astonishing to see just how many people have been playing Elden Ring. I'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire development team,” said director Hidetaka Miyazaki. “Elden Ring is based on a mythological story written by George R. R. Martin. We hope players enjoy a high level of freedom when adventuring through its vast world, exploring its many secrets, and facing up to its many threats. Thank you for your continued support.”

Elden Ring's success is well deserved, in our eyes. We said it could be FromSoftware's best ever game in our review, and we've also waxed lyrical about Elden Ring's exceptional loot design.

  • Because its the best game since next gen released.

Little bugs, The game works as promised, Alot of content, No microtrans or even a store.

Its a full game thats not cut in half like halo.. Its like old school gaming.. You pay £60 for a full release and no forced purchases.. This should show developers how games should be released.
  • A rare moment where I agree with everything Deany says.
  • Does that make you feel....

  • Elden Ring deserves every single bit of praise it gets. Video game development at its finest, and is From's magnum opus.
  • @CHEL - Just a little! :P
  • Must be your eyes again because no one else can see the buyer's remorse you're speaking of, and that's from 12 million purchasers, lol.
