EA and Maxis have rolled out a new update for The Sims 4, introducing new content for the game's ‘Neighborhood Stories System’. Various gameplay improvements related to how Neighbor Sims live “outside of the active household” promise “interesting, autonomous changes all over the world”, among other things.
The idea is to bring "richer, fuller lives" to Neighbor Sims that evolve over time, enabling them to adopt young Sims into their household, get pregnant with their partner, adopt a dog or cat, join or leave careers with ‘Elder Sims’ able to retire, move into and out of lots, or die in various accidents, depending on age, traits, and a Sims' Career.
New gameplay controls for customising a Neighbor Sims life changes have also been added, so you can enable or disable each type of life change, or deactivate them altogether in specific households. By default, you can enable Neighborhood Stores for Other Households and disable them for My Households, while you can configure each household individually, if you like. Or you can enable or disable Neighborhood Stories entirely via the Game Options menu.
You can find out more about the updates to the new Neighborhood Stories System here. Meanwhile, more DLC is also on the way to The Sims 4 with the Décor to the Max Kit, which offers curated, “expressive” and “eclectic” furniture and decorations inspired by maximalism design principles. The Sims 4 Décor to the Max Kit is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on 21st March.
