A Plague Tale is the latest video game series in the frame for a TV adaptation, following the Halo TV series, which premieres next week; the upcoming Resident Evil Netflix show; and numerous others.

Currently in the early stages of production at Merlin Productions in France (as reported by French site Allocine via Eurogamer), the A Plague Tale TV series has 'Inglourious Basterds' and ‘Lucy’ assistant director Mathieu Turi on board as director.

Rights were set to be sold to a production company in the US, but a decision was made to have production remain in the game's setting of France, which is also home to Asobo Studio, the Bordeaux-based studio behind first game, A Plague Tale: Innocence, and upcoming sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem.

Casting details and a release date remain under wraps, as the A Plague Tale TV series has only recently entered production. However, Turi confirmed his involvement via Twitter, stating that he “can't wait to bring Amicia and Hugo's journey to the screen”. A Plague Tale: Requiem is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC sometime in 2022.

  • The next Milk train has arrived.

    All aboard.

…shit is ridiculous. Loved the game but not every game needs to be a show now lol
  • Let's see if they actually follow the game, or do what the Halo showrunners did and "Not even think about the game. Not even talk about the game."
  • Agree with both of you... Although television and movies are widely known to be massive trend chasers that beat a dead horse until it's a mangled carcass, so I guess we shouldn't be surprised. This'll be even worse if the framework of the series is nothing more than a pandering piece.

The downside with things like this is it can also somewhat tarnish a brand. Yes people will get the sequel, and I hope to have a Series X in time for it, too, but just like how everyone recognizes the Resident Evil series to have great games, but is utter garbage outside that space, the same happens when these other games try to get milked elsewhere.
