Announced for consoles back in the misty old days of 2018, The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe has a firm release date at long last, after being delayed until 2020, then pushed into 2021, before finally being pinned down for an early 2022 launch.

An “expanded re-imagining” of the acclaimed 2011 indie game, The Stanley Parable, the Ultra Deluxe version adds new content, new choices, and new secrets to discover, in a “game that plays you”. And it'll be making its way to Xbox and PlayStation in late April.

“You will play as Stanley, and you will not play as Stanley,” the game's description reads. “You will make a choice, and you will have your choices taken from you. The game will end, the game will never end. Contradiction follows contradiction, the rules of how games should work are broken, then broken again. You are not here to win.”

Sounds… interesting. The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe will be arriving for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 27th April.

  • Anyone know if there will be a disc version? Thanks!
  • @VA5HtheSTAMPEDE Don't know really. But I am starting to see that physical releases by independent and small studios or indie games developers are more and more scarce by the years. I think that eventually, maybe by the end of the upcoming generation (not this generation Series X/S, but the next one), most, if not all the games, will be for digital downloads or via streaming only. Indeed, a very sad thing to happen for us the collectors.
  • ^^ collectors and people with bad internet.
  • Wonder if the achievements will differ much from the original Steam ones. There was one that was unobtainable without hacking so be interesting to see if they keep that in
  • @2 -We're often left with downloading most of the game anyway. The disc has a few hundred MBs and you have to download the rest.
