A retro-style side-scroller in which you smash cities to smithereens as a towering Kaiju, Gigapocalypse is coming to consoles this June, publisher Headup Games and developer Goody Gameworks have announced.
Inspired by iconic Kaiju monster flicks like Godzilla and King Kong, as well as retro classic, Rampage, Gigapocalypse enables you to play as colossal beasts known as ‘Gigas’, and reduce buildings to rubble, while a "pumping' heavy metal soundtrack scores the carnage.
Each location has its own boss to defeat, too, but as you progress, your Giga will earn mutation points and grow increasingly powerful. Mutation points can be spent on upgrades, skills, skins, and up to five minion pets to accompany you in your urban destruction. You'll also have to look after your chosen Giga in Tamagotchi-style mini-games, and deck out its lair with various items.
Gigapocalypse will have nine Gigas to choose from when it launches on 2nd June for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, including “three 'Old Gods”, three prehistoric monsters, and three extra-terrestrial terrors from outer space. Check out the console announcement trailer below.
