Developer Cellar Door Games has announced that Rogue Legacy 2 will be arriving on Xbox and PC later this month, having released into Early Access back in August 2020. Now that the game has reached v1.0, the indie studio is on track to release the upcoming sequel soon.
“Rogue Legacy 2 is finally reaching v1.0 and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out," the developer commented. “Our goal for Rogue Legacy 2 was always to make ‘Rogue Legacy 3’ because we didn’t want to settle for just more. It had to stay true to the original, but also stand on its own as something new. After nearly four years of development, bringing it to the fans is the final step in this long journey, and we hope they find it as special as we do.”
Rogue Legacy 2 features a fresh art style, with 3D characters and detailed hand-drawn backdrops, as well as new weaponry, abilities, and classes. Biome generation also now allows for “greater strategic choice”, while ‘Heirlooms’ expand the game's metroidvania “feel” with permanent new abilities for your heroes. Vastly improved traits, meanwhile, promise to provide greater value to the sequel's risk vs. reward gameplay.
New monsters, traps, layouts, and “more of everything” awaits in the Kingdom, when Rogue Legacy 2 launches for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on 28th April. You can check out the new animated release date trailer below.
