Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising, the action-RPG prequel to next year's Suikoden spiritual successor, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, is launching on Xbox next month via Xbox Game Pass.

Serving as a prequel to Hundred Heroes, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising sees players taking on the role of three star-crossed heroes - CJ the Venerable Scavenger, Garoo the Beastman Mercenary, and Isha, the Young Deputy Mayor. The three are thrust together when a massive earthquake reveals Runebarrows hidden below the frontier town of New Nevaeh.

You'll have to dive into dungeons, fighting enemies using each character's unique weapons, or combining them together using Link Attacks. Materials you earn can then be used to rebuild New Nevaeh, with the benefits of reconstruction then rewarded in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes next year.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 10th May 2022. You can check out nearly 30 minutes of developer footage in the video down below.

  • Looks awesome. I'm looking forward to playing this. The artstyle is gorgeous and the gameplay looks super fun.
  • I like how Australia is being repped with the one-eyed, sword-wielding Kangaroo. Legit.
  • I don't know about this. The main game looks amazing but the character models in this are so stiff. Watching the character at 3:50 is painful. It looks like Pinnochio.
