Road 96, the procedurally-generated narrative adventure has launched for consoles today, enabling you to hit the road and take unexpected paths to discover the “adventure of a lifetime”. During your road trip, you'll meet a range of unusual characters, visit exciting places, and forge a personal journey towards freedom.

Inspired by the works of directors like Quentin Tarantino, The Coen Brothers, and Bong Joon Ho (director of Parasite, The Host, and Snowpiercer), Road 96 features an “ever-evolving” story featuring survival elements, from the makers of Valiant Hearts and 11-11: Memories Retold.

With moments of action, exploration, human encounters, bizarre situations, and “contemplative melancholy”, set against a background of “authoritarian rule and oppression,” you can take one of thousands of routes down Road 96 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, for $19.99/£15.99.

  • This looks interesting. I'm curious though how the procedurally generated element works in a game like this that certainly has recorded dialog and probably only a handful of ways to progress through its situational events. How would that affect gameplay other than maybe the environment or the order of its encounters?
