Developer Crystal Dynamics has shared its future plans for Marvel's Avengers, with the delayed Update 2.3 now in the rearview mirror. Update 2.4 is on the cards for May, while Update 2.5 will bring with it a new character - ‘Jane Foster: The Mighty Thor’, set to be portrayed by Natalie Portman in upcoming Marvel flick, Thor: Love and Thunder.
Next month's update will target system improvements and “an emphasis on in-game events”, mainly ensuring that existing events like Cosmic Threat, Tachyon Anomaly, and Corrupted Vibranium remain “fresh and compelling” upon being replayed. Rewards will all be diversified, in an effort to make events more worthwhile.
The studio notes that for Update 2.4, it'll “reworking the systems behind those events with the goal of making them more rewarding,” building upon the improved gameplay loop introduced for Update 2.3. Unit rewards will be applied to a wider variety of event missions, and higher power level gear rewards will be available via meta objectives.
Meta objectives will also grant rewards to the entirety of your eligible roster, rather than only a single hero, enabling you to better gear up your whole squad, while playing as your favourite hero. This is all of the main stuff planned for Update 2.4 in May, while Update 2.5 will follow at a later, unspecified date. Marvel's Avengers hasn't had a multi-platform character since Black Panther in August 2021.
Update 2.5 will introduce Jane Foster across platforms, with specific timings to be shared soon. “Our Hero designs are driven first and foremost by their core comic book identities, so, as a fellow wielder of Mjolnir, her suite of abilities will have a lot in common with the Odinson's,” Crystal Dynamics teases in its latest dev update, adding: "however she will also have elements that are distinctly Jane."
