Artwork for Sonic Origins has leaked on the PlayStation Store in Australia and New Zealand, alongside details on the upcoming collection, which brings together the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis and Mega CD Sonic games in one place, with various extras. A June release date is also part of the listing.

According the the product description on the PS Store, Sonic Origins will be an entirely new set of ports, rather than emulated versions of the games, boasting “new areas to explore, additional animations, and a brand new Anniversary Mode.” Each Sonic title in the collection will also include all-new high resolution opening and ending animations.

As for the aforementioned Anniversary Mode, this will enable you to play each classic Sonic game with infinite lives and a “revamped” fullscreen resolution. Classic Mode, meanwhile, will include the original resolution and limited lives, just like you remember. Capping things off is new content to unlock, like challenges and Special Stages, purchased via the in-game Museum using collectible coins.

Sonic Origins was announced during last year's Sonic Central, and is listed on the PlayStation Store with a 22nd June 2022 release date. The collection bundles Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic CD. Check out the leaked artwork below.

A brand new open-world Sonic title, Sonic Frontiers, is also scheduled for release later this year.
