Borderlands developer Gearbox Software and publisher 2K have announced that an “all-new” chapter of Tales From the Borderlands will be launching later this year, with the first concrete details to emerge this summer.

“There are more stories to explore in the #Borderlands universe,” the announcement tweet declares. “An all new Tales from the Borderlands adventure is coming in 2022 from @GearboxOfficial and @2K. Stay tuned for a full announcement this summer!".

The original Tales From the Borderlands launched with its first episode in 2014, Telltale Games on development duties across its five-episode arc. The fifth episode launched in October 2015, but apparently failed to meet sales expectations, despite acclaim from fans and critics alike.

It appears that the resurrected Telltale Games won't be involved with the new Tales From the Borderlands, since the studio isn't mentioned in the announcement tweet. However, Telltale does have a second season of The Wolf Among Us in the offing for release sometime in 2023.

  • I rewatched the finger gun fight yesterday from the first game and it still holds up!
  • it just doesnt seem right to have a sequel without the king/queens of VN AND the original devs at the helm.
