Borderlands 3 is finally getting full crossplay across Xbox, PlayStation, Stadia, and PC, Gearbox has announced.

The third instalment in the Borderlands series added crossplay between Xbox, PC, and Stadia back in June 2021. However, despite developer Gearbox intending to add crossplay to PlayStation consoles as well, it was reported that Sony had blocked the feature.

“Good news or bad news first? Good News: An update for Borderlands 3 has been prepared for release that includes full crossplay support across all platforms. Bad News: For certification, we have been required by the publisher to remove crossplay support for PlayStation consoles,” read a Tweet from Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford at the time.

However, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, this year's Borderlands spin-off, did launch with full crossplay support. And now, Gearbox has announced that Borderlands 3, which released in 2019, will get full crossplay across all platforms in a future update later this Spring. Better late than never, we suppose?

  • So they had all their resources on this instead of the Tiny Tina “season pass”
  • Sounds about right. I heard the first Tiny Tina DLC was lame.
  • Yup and supposedly the rest of the season pass is identical with different skins copy / pasted
