Ubisoft has officially announced a new multiplayer battle arena game, codenamed Project Q, which will be coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

The French publisher made the announcement after its hand was forced by a report from Exputer, which leaked the existence of the game ahead of any official announcement. According to Ubisoft, Project Q will be a “a team battle arena letting players truly own the experience”, and is currently in early development. Players can now register for upcoming gameplay tests on the official Ubisoft website here.

Additionally, Ubisoft has gone as far to confirm that Project Q “is not a battle royale” but will feature a variety of PvP modes with the simple goal of “fun” in mind. Ubisoft also stated that it doesn't have plans to add NFTs to the game.

From some leaked gameplay footage seen on Exputer, Project Q looks to pull its visual style and some gameplay mechanics from Epic's hugely popular battle royale game, Fortnite, although it's worth reiterating that the game is reportedly in very early development.

  • Here we go again. Ubisoft and their failed garbage. Also "Ubisoft also stated that it doesn't have plans to add NFTs to the game" - this is complete bullshit.
  • I think it's funny when you have to tell your investors and potential buyers that it's "not a BR" game and that it won't feature NFTs. What an enticing game! Think I'll just wait for Overwatch 2, thanks.
  • No NTF's eh? Then what proprietary form of NFT will they be introducing to "allow" played to: "truly own the experience”? Cause that sure as hell sounds like NFT-speak.
