Mothmen 1966 is a cool looking visual novel with a '80s PC graphical style, coming to Xbox in July.

The game follows four different characters - young lovers Lee and Victoria, local gas station owner Holt, and paranormal investigator Lou - following a meteor shower that brings dark events to the local area. Men in black lurk in the shadows, and strange figures seem to stalk the quartet through the woods.

Across eleven chapters, players will have to help each character survive, with Choose Your Own Adventure-style choices to make, and puzzles to solve. The whole thing is wrapped up in a really lovely 8-bit aesthetic, that pulls from home computers like the ZX Spectrum. You can check it out in action in the trailer down below.

“When we first saw Mothmen 1966, we immediately fell in love with the aesthetic and the writing and knew we had to work with LCB Game Studio,” said Shintaro Kanaoya, founder of publisher Chorus Worldwide. “What they’re doing with interactive fiction is nostalgic yet appealing and accessible to modern audiences. We’re very excited to be bringing Mothmen 1966 to fans of narrative games everywhere in July.”

Mothmen 1966 is launching on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 14th July 2022.
