EA Sports has announced that it will be running a crossplay test in FIFA 22 in the near future for all players across the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Google Stadia versions of the game.
The crossplay test will only be available within the Online Seasons and Online Friendlies modes, and can be disabled at any time from a widget located in the bottom right of FIFA 22's main menu. From this widget, players will also be able to search for friends on other platforms, or block and mute players instead. Once friends are added, you can invite them to a match.
With crossplay enabled, you'll also be able to take on players on other platforms in Online Seasons when matchmaking. With more and more online titles embracing multiplayer across different platforms, it's about time EA finally got involved with FIFA. Back in March, it was reported that FIFA 23 would include crossplay support when it launches later this year. Now it seems like this limited test in FIFA 22 will be setting the groundwork for full crossplay in that title.
