Ubisoft has announced that its Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been shifed from Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, to “birthplace of the epic Sands of Time trilogy", Ubisoft Montreal.

“This decision is an important step and the team," Ubisoft explained in a tweet, "building upon the work achieved by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, will now take the time they need to regroup on the scope of the game to deliver you the best experience for this remake of an all-time classic, when it's ready.”

The statement adds: “We want to thank you for all the continuous support and patience throughout the development. Rest assured that we will update you on the progress in a future update.”

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was originally announced back in September 2020 with a January 2021 release date, before being pushed to March 2021 in December 2020. The was subsequently delayed again in February 2021, but this time without a new release date.

Ubisoft cited that the extra time would be used for polish and refinement, ensuring that the remake is “faithful to the original”. Currently, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is targeting a tentative 2022 release for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, but that remains to be seen. We'll keep an eye on the hourglass.

  • That's good news. Now it actually might be released without being a complete disappointment.
  • Been looking forward to this for so long. Hoping for the best. This game is still better than Assassin's Creed;p
  • I’m hoping this doesn’t bode poorly for the Splinter Cell remake. Montreal are their star talent, I don’t recall if they’re behind the SC remake, but them being put on the PoP team can only be good
