Crytek has announced that Hitman 3 game director Mattias Engström has joined the development team for the upcoming Crysis 4.
Engström will be joining Crytek in a similar role, serving as game director for “the fourth instalment in the Crysis franchise”. He had previously worked as a level designer at Ubisoft on Far Cry 3 and Assassin's Creed: Revelations, before joining IO Interactive to work on Hitman and Hitman 2, and then taking over as game director on Hitman III.
Crysis 4 was first announced earlier this year with a very short teaser trailer, nearly a decade after the release of the last new game in the series, Crysis 3. It seemed for a long time like the Crysis franchise might never come back, but Crytek has been pushing the series back into the limelight in recent years, with the release of the Crysis Remastered Trilogy.
Crysis 4 currently does not have a release window, but given that Crytek is just bringing on their game director this week, it seems like the sci-fi shooter might be a long way off yet.
