Developer Obsidian has launched a new free update for Grounded, called The Bugs Strike Back, and it does pretty much exactly what it says on the tin.
The update adds in three new ways that the Garden's bugs can become more aggressive to players throughout the game. The first is Faction Reactivity, which sees bugs invading or attacking your base in response to you invading their territory, or killing too many of their kind. The more you piss off one particular species of bug, the more likely they'll bring the fight back to you at home.
The second is a new item, the Waft Emitter. If you feed this machine with collected bug parts, it will fill the air with that scent, attracting more of the same bug to the Waft Emitter's location in an enraged state, in order to exact revenge. Perfect for farming a particular type of bug or part, without leaving the comfort of your home base - assuming you have the right defences, of course.
Finally, new MIX.Rs have been spread throughout the yard, allowing you to mix some Raw Science for Wendell's experiments. Players can access the Raw Science by putting the MIX.R into overdrive, but the resulting loud noise will attract angry bugs, which players will have to fight off to make sure the MIX.R isn't destroyed before they can get that sweet Raw Science from within. You can check out all three new additions in the new Developer Vlog down below.
Grounded is available in early access right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
