Developer Ghost Pattern has announced that Wayward Strand, an interactive story-driven adventure set in the late '70s, will be coming to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and PC, this July. Telling the story of Casey Beaumaris during her holidays, the game sees you helping out at an airborne hospital, over the course of a long weekend.
Aboard the hospital airship, Casey secretly sets about writing an article for her school newspaper, jotting down observations in her notebook. Casey will find herself in the thick of it, with overworked staff, grieving patients, and other instances of trauma to deal with. Spending time with patients, you'll experience “interlocking and overlapping stories”, in which you'll learn about their lives, and find ways to help out.
Each playthrough offers something new to discover, as time passes for all of the hospital's characters, meaning you can only react with some over the course of one run. The stories of more than a dozen characters will unfold around you in real time, and as Casey, you can freely roam the hospital as the day elapses.
Wayward Strand will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 21st July 2022. Check out the gameplay sneak peek trailer below.
