Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive revealed a load of upcoming content for the game during it's recent 6th Anniversary Broadcast, including the game's next major chapter, and a new Resident Evil crossover.
Roots of Dread is the newest chapter arriving in Dead by Daylight on 7th June, adding in a new killer, survivor, and map. The new killer is The Dredge, a bizarre mass of twisted limbs that lives in the shadows and acts as the game's first real ‘boogeyman’, with the ability to teleport between lockers to catch survivors unaware.
Taking on this personification of darkness is Haddie Kaur, the new survivor. Born in India, before moving to Quebec, Haddie is brave, bold, and has experience fighting monsters in the past. This makes her one of the few survivors able to face off with killers in the Entity's Realm.
Meanwhile, the latest map is The Garden of Joy, a quaint American town that's hiding some big secrets just beneath the surface, with the main building of the map being a classic family home.
“We’re thrilled to be offering our players an original Chapter for the game’s anniversary this year. Dead by Daylight has grown and diversified itself tremendously since its creation, and with Roots of Dread, we focused on the essence of the game: visceral fear and the thrill of the hunt,” explains creative director Dave Richard. “The Dredge is a strange and creepy monster with a unique design, a first for Dead by Daylight Killers. It lurks and hunts from the shadows with the power to engulf Survivors in darkness, and I believe this makes for a very intense experience for all players.”
Also announced during the broadcast was Dead by Daylight: Resident Evil: PROJECT W, which might have one too many colons, but should excite fans of both franchises, with even more Resident Evil characters entering the fog later this year.
