Nacon has unveiled GreedFall II, the sequel to developer Spiders' ambitious 2019 RPG adventure, due for release in 2024. Set three years prior to the events of the first GreedFall, the follow-up will take you to the continent of Gacane, where, as a native of Teer Fradee, you'll forge a path through an old world ravaged by war and disease.

As well as being war-torn, Gacane has also been scarred by the Malichor plague and political scheming of its various factions. Engaging in the same type of story with player choice, as well as “more tactical combat”, you'll need to regain your freedom and shape your destiny.

You'll be able to use diplomacy, cunning, or brawn to save the continent, while forging helpful alliances along the way. Meanwhile, Spiders also has its intriguing French Revolution RPG title, Steelrising, in the pipeline, due to release this September. GreedFall II: The Dying World will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2024.

  • The first one was alright, I hope they improve a lot in their gameplay, I was basically spamming one skill throughout the whole game and it worked...
  • I'm a fan of Spiders' games. Greedfall was very fun to play. So I'm excited to see where they take this story. There's definitely some improvements I'd like to see in this sequel on a technical level. Improved animations, character customization and hair tech would come to mind immediately. I'd also like to see more variety in builds and the ability to alter our companions setups to fit our playstyles better.

Maybe flesh out the inter personal connections with the squad too. I loved my companions stories and doing their questlines. I just wish there was more of that content and it was made reference to more by the others in the group. So more banter and recognition of my friendship / romance with other characters in the group would be cool.

Speaking of the romance system, I'd like to see it improved. They always do the same lazy copy and paste system of talk sweet to x character at 5 or so key points and get generic kiss scene here. But it's rarely built upon or affects the story in any meaningful way. It'd be nice for roleplaying immersion if the person you're dating would refer to you differently during conversations and banter. Maybe other people in your group would take notice and comment. It could even lead to comedic setups and scenes during down time between missions. Other games have done this better. It doesn't need to be a major focus or anything. It's just a cool feature when it's there.
