EA and Codemasters have announced that F1 22 will feature updates to the Spanish, Australian, and Abu Dhabi circuits, in a bid to accurately reflect each venue's real-world improvements. This season the tracks have been adjusted to promote greater competition, with more spots for overtaking.
In Spain, turn 10 has been adjusted, wit turns 10-14 boasting updated off-track areas, as well as several sausage kerbs around the circuit. Australia's Albert Park Circuit has been remodelled usign LIDAR data, for more detailed height and camber. Outfield area walls have been repositioned, kerbs have been replaced with new photogrammetry versions, and changes have been made to the layouts of turns 1, 3, 6, 8/9, 11, 12, and 13.
The Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi has undergone changes to its turn 5, where Verstappen overtook Hamilton to win the 2021 championship, with the chicane removed before the hairpin. Said hairpin has also been brought forward with more runoff, and the turn 9 chicane and 90-degree turns are now a single cambered turn, replacing turns 11-14. Turns 13-15 have also been rounded off around the hotel, so cars can follow more closely.
You can see the changes for yourself in the video snippets below, as well as a new hot lap trailer for the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. EA Sports F1 22 launches for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on 1st July, with three-day early access when you pre-order the Champions Edition.
