Developer Hello Games has today launched No Man's Sky: Leviathan, the seventh expedition for the space exploration sandbox, following the previous Outlaws update. Expedition 7 aims to put roguelike survival at the forefront, as your intrepid Traveller is tasked with escaping a "mysterious time-loop curse".
Apparently, said time-loop is the work of The Leviathan, a colossal space creature, and to break the loop, you'll have to die a whole bunch of times, contributing to Polo's research with each attempt. Upon death, some progress is reset, in typical roguelike style, but, as you contribute to Polo's work, freedom from the loop gets a step closer.
Each run also gives you a chance to help Polo build a procedurally-generated loadout, which improves in quality based upon the collective efforts of the No Man's Sky community. Rewards are also in store during the latest expedition, including the Whalestalker Cloak, a mini Organic Frigate for your base, a Temporal Starship Trail, and more.
You can set about freeing yourself from the continuum in the No Man's Sky Leviathan Expedition now, running for the next six weeks, approximately. Check it out in the trailer below.
