Indie publisher Modus Games has announced that Them's Fightin' Herds is coming to Xbox consoles later this year.

Developed by Mane6, Them's Fightin' Herds is an indie 2D fighting game featuring a cast of “adorable animals” designed by veteren cartoon producer Lauren Faust. Faust's credits include The Powerpuff Girls, The Iron Giant, DC Super Hero Girls, and, of course, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, which seems to be where Them's Fightin' Herds pulls the majority of its inspiration from.

The game features a four-button fighting system, with light, medium, heavy, and magic attacks, as well as full online crossplay with rollback netcode. There's also a unique episodic story mode, which seems to play out more like a pixel-art JRPG, until you get into a battle. The game will launch with some chapters available, with further episodic chapters added for free after launch.

Them's Fightin' Herds is due to release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch in Autumn 2022. You can check out the console announcement trailer down below.

  • The history of how this game came to exist in it's current form is quite the ride, but let's just say it did a bit more than just "pull inspiration from" MLP
