Konami has declared that Super Bomberman R Online is due to end in December of this year, approximately 18 months since the debut of the game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC. Initially released for Stadia in 2020, the free-to-play multiplayer title came to other platforms in May 2021.

“This service has continued to operate with the support of many users since its launch in May 2021,” Konami explained in a statement. “But due to various circumstances, we have decided to terminate the service on all platforms on December 1, 2022 at 01:00 (UTC).”

The company added that the sale of Bomber Coins and Premium Packs also ends today, 1st June, at 1am UTC, with a recommendation that all unused Bomber Coins be used up before the service ends. “We hope that you will enjoy the game until the end of the service,” the statement continues.

While the free-to-play Super Bomberman R Online, and its 64-player battle royale-style ‘Battle 64’ mode, will no longer be available after 1st December, the paid Super Bomberman R from 2018 will still be up for purchase, while Konami is also planning new Bomberman projects for the future.

“The ‘Bomberman’ series is moving forward with new projects,” Konami's statement concludes. "We hope to be able to inform you of this project soon. Thank you for your continued support of the 'Bomberman' series."

In the meantime, you might want to set about mopping up any remaining achievements in Super Bomberman R Online, before it ceases on 1st December 2022.
