EA has dropped a reveal trailer and release date for Madden NFL 23, hot on the heels of yesterday's #MaddenDay cover announcement. The latest entry in the long-running football series, which debuted with Coach Madden on the cover back in 1988, will be launching this August, with a “game changing” new ‘FieldSENSE Gameplay System'.

According to EA, FieldSENSE will lay the foundation for “consistent, ultra-realistic gameplay”, exclusively for the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions of the game. What this essentially means is better gameplay flow with "realistic outcomes' on the field during play. Animation branching tech , dubbed ‘Hit Everything’, changes physical interactions, while determining the outcomes of tackles, mid-air and on the ground.

New mechanics like '360 Cuts', will enable players to quickly change direction when carrying the ball, whereas 'Skill Based Passing' will offer a new way to pass for “ultimate control” to place the ball where you want, with the right amount of power behind it. An expanded number of player body types, gear, and visuals will also be “rebuilt from the ground up”, using scans of NFL players and game day equipment.

A bunch of new coach likenesses, a new player-focused 4K touchdown cam, and more aim to provide “unprecedented NFL realism”, while the Madden NFL League mode returns alongside new additions to Franchise Mode. These include Free Agency and Contract enhancements, Scouting improvements, and updates to the Hub and Trade Logic. Madden Ultimate Team's team-building will also be simplified.

Madden NFL 23 will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC on 19th August, with pre-orders of the digital All Madden Edition offering three-day early access, 4,600 Madden Points, and Dual Entitlement to both last and current-gen versions of the game. Pre-ordering by 22nd July will also grant an All-Madden Team Elite Player item, and EA Play members can play Madden NFL 23 via a 10-hour trial three days ahead of launch. • Haven't played a Madden game since 05. I'll let Angry Joe tell me how much it sucks before I don't buy it though. Lol
  • If they haven't made it so you can throw fade passes, then it's a skip for me. Those types of passes were in the ps2 versions.
  • Don't care about the game, but I am excited to watch Angry Joe go nuclear on this.
  • I bet a bunch of people will pick this up, complain about how much it sucks, and how much it hasn't changed, review bomb it, only to repeat the same process next year.
  • LOL you are so right
