BioWare has revealed the official title of what until now everyone has been calling Dragon Age 4 or ‘the next Dragon Age’ - it's Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, which hints at the pivotal role that elven git Solas will be playing in the new chapter.
“Some say he might be an ancient elven god, but some say not. Others say a betrayer of his people…or a saviour who now seeks to rescue them at the cost of your world," BioWare says of Solas, aka the Dread Wolf, in an official blog post. “His motives are inscrutable and his methods sometimes questionable, earning him a reputation as something of a trickster deity—a player of dark and dangerous games.”
For the uninitiated, Solas made his debut in 2014's Dragon Age: Inquisition, and apparently, his presence in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf “suggests a spectrum of endless possibilities on where things may go,” according to the Canadian developer. It's been a long road since the game was first announced in 2018, but BioWare promises more details will be coming later this year.
“We suspect you have questions and they’ll be answered in time. While the game won’t be releasing this year, we’re growing closer to that next adventure,” BioWare's post continues. “Rest assured, Solas is placing his pieces on the board as we speak. That’s all we have for now, but we hope knowing the official title has sparked some intrigue, as we’ll be talking more about the game later this year!”
Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is currently in the middle of production, and could reportedly be set to launch for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC sometime in 2023.
