With MultiVersus and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl proving that there's at least moderate interest in Smash Bros-style multiplayer platformer fighting games, the Crash Bandicoot series could be getting in on the action, according to rumours.
“New Crash? I wonder where you got that information from?,” Windows Central's Jez Corden remarked during the site's podcast. “I think we could see a new Crash Bandicoot, and not only is it going to be a new Crash Bandicoot, but it’s [also] going to be a multiplayer Crash Bandicoot. It’s like a four-player brawler almost but Crash oriented.”
Whether the four-player Crash brawler in question might be a remaster or remake of Crash Bash is uncertain, but it seems like a fairly good bet. Released for PlayStation in 2000, Crash Bash was a game in the Mario Party vein, which could be ripe for the remake treatment, like the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
And with 2020's Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time proving that there's still a place in people's hearts for the manic marsupial, perhaps a new take on Crash Bash or a full-blown remake could be on the cards. And, should the rumours hold water, it could be announced later this week, whatever it turns out to be. So, eyes peeled and that.
