Influenced by a ‘Golden Age’ of 1950s sci-fi and 3D animation feature films, Darwin's Paradox is a platforming adventure game, coming in 2024 from a studio of industry veterans. Among its ranks, developer ZeDrimeTim counts former Arkane Lyon studio director Romauld Capron, and former Focus Home Interactive CEO Cédric Lagarrigue.

Meanwhile, Mika Tanguy and Gilles Aujard bring across expertise from the world of film, specifically in cinematic visual effects and animation. As such, ZeDrimeTim “aims to bridge animated feature films and video games proficiencies”, using Unreal Engine 5.

“After an already quite full career in video games, I wanted to get involved in a project on a human scale,” said executive producer Capron. “I was immediately attracted by the art direction and gameplay mechanics of Darwin's Paradox and I'm really excited to help the team at ZeDrimeTim, to turn that vision into a game with a strong identity.”

Lagarrigue, meanwhile, leaves behind a 20-year career with Focus Home, for a game he says has “the ingredients” to be a hit despite its “limited” budget. “The excellent playable prototype and the positioning of the studio convinced me to invest in the project and accompany the team in this exciting adventure,” he said.

Fundraising has covered pre-production and production on the project, and Darwin's Paradox is aiming to launch for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC in early 2024.
