Microsoft has announced Minecraft legends, an RTS game set within the world of Minecraft, and coming to Xbox Game Pass next year.

In the familiar Minecraft land of the Overworld, the piglins have begun to invade, corrupting the Overworld in the process. Players will have to unite the many factions of Minecraft, including mobs you'll recognise from the main game, and lead your forces into strategic battles. Minecraft Legends will feature an exciting campaign, as well as online campaign co-op and competitive multiplayer.

The game is being co-developed by Blackbird Interactive, the studio behind RTS title Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak and 2019's Minecraft Earth.

“To deliver our vision as an action strategy game, we knew we needed to partner with a team that could help us bring Minecraft Legends to life in the best way possible. We are thrilled to partner with Blackbird Interactive, a development team with a long track record of delivering strong strategy gameplay experiences,” said executive producer Dennis Ries.

Minecraft Legends launches on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2023. You can check out the announcement trailer down below.
